Panic has gripped residents of Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area in Ondo State, following the crash of a suspected military helicopter on Monday morning. Tragically, all personnel on board are feared dead.
The aircraft reportedly went down in a swampy terrain directly opposite the Naval Base in Igbokoda. The impact of the crash triggered immediate panic across the coastal community.
While the official identity of the aircraft and the exact number of occupants remain unconfirmed, military gear recovered from the crash site strongly suggests a military connection.
Confirming the harrowing incident during a telephone interview with journalists, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Area, Maurice Oripelaye, revealed that the aircraft was completely incinerated.
