Lady Returns from Dubai to Discover ₦3 Million Savings Missing from Access Bank Account

A Nigerian lady who recently returned from Dubai has cried out for help after allegedly discovering that her life savings of about ₦3 million had disappeared from her Access Bank account.

The woman, who said she had been saving the money since 2022, reportedly expected to find approximately ₦3 million in her account when she returned to Nigeria. However, upon checking her account, she was shocked to discover that virtually all the money was gone.

According to her account, Access Bank informed her that withdrawals had allegedly been made from the account since 2024. She was reportedly further told that her MTN phone number had been reassigned to another person, raising concerns about how the new user may have gained access to her banking information.

“They have taken my money, all my savings from 2022. I was supposed to have about ₦3 million in my Access Bank account, but when I came back from Dubai to check, I couldn’t find even ₦1,000,” she reportedly said while appealing for assistance.

She alleged that the person who obtained her reassigned SIM card had been using the line to carry out transactions linked to her bank account.

The development has sparked concern over the risks associated with SIM reassignment and mobile banking, particularly for customers who spend extended periods outside Nigeria and may not regularly monitor their bank accounts.

The lady is now seeking answers from the relevant institutions and hoping to recover the money she says represents years of savings.

The incident has also renewed conversations about the importance of keeping bank accounts and registered phone numbers secure, regularly monitoring financial transactions and immediately reporting suspicious activity to banks and telecommunications providers.

As the matter unfolds, attention is expected to focus on how the alleged withdrawals were authorised, how the SIM was reassigned, and whether the affected customer will be able to recover her missing funds.
