The University of Nigeria, Nsukka has announced a major medical breakthrough in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease.

A researcher from the Department of Pharmacological Biochemistry, Dr. Mba Cornelius Elochukwu disclosed that an anti-ulcer medicine discovered and developed during his doctoral program at UNN has successfully undergone scientific validation.

According to Dr. Mba, the medicine is NAFDAC approved and has demonstrated remarkable therapeutic efficacy in treating various forms of peptic ulcer.

Unlike conventional drugs that only manage symptoms, he said the new natural formulation offers a curative effect and addresses the challenge of repeated drug resistance.

“This translational research has shown tremendous curative potential. It has been tested and confirmed by several medical experts,” Dr. Mba stated.

He expressed gratitude to God, his supervisor, and his alma maters including A.P.S, C.H.S Umuida, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for the academic foundation that made the discovery possible.
