Winners emerge in Caleb varsity debate contest


The African Church Model College, Ifako Ijaiye, has emerged as the winner of a debate competition organised by Caleb University, Imota.

The college won the star prize of N1million at the inaugural National Intelligence Development Project, Lagos.

In the keenly contested competition, Barachel College emerged second and got N250,000.

Baptist Academy, which came third position, smiled home with N150,000 while Dansol High School got N100,000 for emerging fourth position.

About 700 students from 40 secondary schools attended the event tagged ‘Career Expo’, according to a statement by the varsity’s spokesperson, Olawale Adekoya.

Caleb University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nosa Owens Ibie, in his welcome remarks, thanked the Founder and Visitor of the Institution, Dr Oladega Adebogun for his vision and gallant strides.

Speaking during the Career Expo segment of the event, the Guest Speaker and Executive Director, Zenith Bank Plc, Dr Temitope Fasoranti, who was represented by the Group head, Retail Banking, Mr. Emmanuel Oladimeji, admonished the students to make studies a non-negotiable priority by shunning all manners of social vices, and ultimately ensure they carefully choose the appropriate career path.
