Windows 11 update is causing problems for users

Windows 11 update crashes

Microsoft has been compelled to issue a warning to customers to uninstall the Windows 11 update, KB5012643, which appears to be causing some apps to fail, particularly those that use the .NET 3.5 framework.

WindowsLatest explains that KB5012643 – an optional update for Windows 11 – brings several fixes to the operating system, but some people are reporting that apps that rely on the .NET 3.5 framework – although quite a few – have been experiencing failure since installing the update.

When installing this optional update, some customers experienced Safe mode and installation difficulties, as well as Blue Screen of Death.

In the support document released on April 25, 2022, the software company said that, “After installing this update, some .NET Framework 3.5 apps might have issues or fail to open. Affected apps are using certain optional components in .NET Framework 3.5, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components.”

There are reports online detailing several vulnerabilities in Windows 11’s newest upgrade, including a flaw that causes certain .NET 3.5 Framework apps to crash, as highlighted in Feedback Hub articles.

Microsoft had fixed the Safe mode bugs in Windows 11, but the operating system appears to have run into new issues with the recent cumulative updates.

Steps to uninstall windows 11 update

To uninstall the update:

  1. Open the start menu and type ‘Windows update settings’
  2. Click ‘Windows Update’, afterwards click ‘View Update Histor’
  3. Click ‘Uninstall Update” and select ‘KB5012643’
  4. Click ‘Uninstall’

The other solution is to try re-enabling .NET Framework 3.5 and the Windows Communication Foundation on the Windows Features Settings page. You can also run the following commands to perform this action via terminal:

These quick steps would help prevent what is seen as a failed update, bringing memories of the broken Windows 10 updates. The failed Windows 10 updates caused tremendous harm than they fixed at that point, also putting a significant dent in Microsoft’s reputation.

The original version of the Net framework was released in the year 2002. The title of the version was .NET Framework version 1.0. The Microsoft Corporation, since then, has progressed significantly, and the latest version is. 4.7.2 Net Framework.

Fortunately, this flaw does not affect all .NET 3.5 Framework-based applications.

Microsoft released Windows 11 in October last year as an upgrade to Windows 10. This update to the new Windows was released in January 2022.
