Africa’s foremost children’s fashion and retail entrepreneur, Adenike Ogunlesi had an interview with Diamond Woman (Women of Vision), an online platform which supports and empowers women in their sphere of influence.
Speaking in the interview, Adenike Ogunlesi explains what success means to her as well as the role of women in the society. As an entrepreneur with great vision and determination, Adenike has built a reputation for being the best manufacturer of children’s clothing with a network of store nationwide.
Adenike Ogunlesi is the founder and Chief Responsibility Officer of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, the foremost indigenous lifestyle brand operating to international standards in the design, manufacturing and retail of children clothing. She is married to Adegbola Ogunlesi, and they are blessed with three children.
“I think I am matured enough to believe that I have earned the right, quite a number of things to make me sparkle. My number one thing will definitely be my family, then, triumphs at work makes me sparkle when I make a difference in somebody’s life. When I achieve a set goal, it makes me sparkle,” Adenike Ogunlesi said.
While speaking on the responsibilities of women in the society, Adenike said women need to be supported if they are going to be working. “There need to be a deliberate policy that support working mothers, there need to be a deliberate policy that helps a woman who choose to run a business.” She added that, “Women will always be the greatest allies. I think the role of women in any society are builders and nurturers which is why I believe that women should be supported.”
Adenike Ogunlesi is the founding member and the first president of the Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW) at the Nigeria Employer’s Consultative Association. She is a winner of numerous awards and finalist at the CNBC AABLA (All Africa Business Leaders Awards) in the category of Business Woman of the year 2014 and 2015.
Adenike concluded by advising women who are looking to unearth entrepreneur. She said, “Since you have an idea you want to birth, take the first step. I am a great believer if you know what you want to do, start it, then everything else will usually fall into place by the time you started.”
According to Adenike, commitment is very important. “Once you commit, you will be consistent with what you do and no matter what happen, you will persevere.” It is not how hard or how fast, she said, planning, precision, strategy and action as well articulating a plan will get wherever you go.
