Midfielder Joseph Aribo believes the Super Eagles needs time to grow with new manager Jose Peseiro, despite their flying start to 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Super Eagles responded to the disappointment of losing out on the 2022 Fifa World Cup race and shock exit from Africa Cup of Nations, by trashing Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in their last two matches.
The wins put the team in firm control of their African Cup of Nations qualifying Group, but Aribo feels, there is a lot of work to be done.
“I just want to say I’m sorry because I know how disappointing it was not going to the World Cup. But we’ll be back I know that for sure,” he said.
“We just need to grow with this new manager. It’s a new chapter and we just need to get together and stay strong as a team, and we’ll get to where we need to be.” He told BBC Africa Sport.
Aribo was an unused in the 10-0 trashing of Sao Tome and Principe in Morroco earlier this morning.
