Villarreal join race for Sadiq

Spanish club, Villarreal, has joined the list of clubs interested in Nigerian forward, Umar Sadiq, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Sadiq is in hot demand across Europe after spearheading Almeria’s return to the Spanish topflight last season.

The 25-year-old has scored 38 goals in 76 appearances for the Rojiblancos since he arrived at the club in 2020 from Partizan Belgrade.

Benfica, Ajax Amsterdam, and Spanish clubs, Sevilla and Valencia have also been linked with the lanky striker.

According to Spanish daily, Relevo, Villarreal has received offers from Premier League club, West Ham United for their star forward, Arnaut Danjuma and have set its sights on Sadiq as a potential replacement.

Relevo reportedly claims that Almeria will demand €20m for the player.

The Yellow Submarine already has a Nigerian, Samuel Chukwueze in their squad.

The Kaduna-born striker began his career in Spezia before joining AS Roma on a one-year loan alongside compatriot Nura Abdullahi. Having impressed in his maiden season, he was signed permanently by the Stadio Olimpico giants.

However, his inability to command regular place in the Yellow and Reds’ squad saw him loaned to Bologna, Torino, NAC Breda, Rangers and Perugia within the space of five years.
