UNIJOS leases guest house to developer


The  Vice-Chancellor of University of Jos, Prof. Ishaya Tanko, has signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Royal Choice Inn Limited to lease out the old University’s  Council Guest House to the company for 20 years

He noted that during the period under review, the company which was been managed by a developer, would remodel the Guest House to meet global standard and construct a befitting world class hotel at the location for public usage.

Tanko, signed the MoU  on behalf of the Institution while the Chairman of Royal Choice Inn Limited, Chief Felix Akiga signed for the company, saying the MoU would last for 20 years after which the University would take over the property.

“I wish to recognize my predecessors who initiated the project. Prof. Hayward Mafwai started it and worked with Prof. Nelson Ochekpe. When Prof. Sebastine Maimako saw the beauty of the concept, he worked towards achieving it in 2020 but because of the pandemic, it wasn’t possible.”

Prof. Tanko explained that the University is not going to be responsible for the finances that would be used for the remodeling and for the construction.

Meanwhile, in a move aimed strengthening relationships, the Department of English, University of Jos, has donated some books to the Anaguta Community hosting the institution in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State

The Head of Department, Prof. Jeff Doki, presented the books to the Paramount ruler of the Anaguta ethnic nationality in the state, the  Ujah Anaguta and Chiarman Jos North Traditional Council, Mr Johnson Magaji.
