Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez, has explained why he made a telephone gesture celebration after scoring against his former club Barcelona in a LaLiga clash.

Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, thanks to two goals from Thomas Lemar and Suarez.
Speaking after the game, Suarez, who was told that he was surplus to requirements when Ronald Koeman took charge at Camp Nou, said his telephone gesture was not for Barcelona coach but for those people who know that he still has the same phone number.
“It was for the people who know that I have the same number and that I am still using the same phone. It was not for Koeman, not at all.
“If you want to know… I had been joking with my children that I would do that.”
“I already knew that if I scored, I would apologise. Due to the respect, my affection, for being another Barcelona fan, for the career I had at Barcelona, for the [tough]period that my colleagues are going through, which is difficult, and the fans. Out of respect.”
The win takes Athletico to second on the log. If Sevilla and Real Sociedad win today, they could push Diego Simone’s men to fourth.
