State, NESP to enhance physical planning

The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, has said it is working to enhance physical planning in the state through the adoption of the Building Energy Efficiency Code.

According to a statement on Sunday, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Idris Salako, said this during the inauguration of the Technical Working Group on the adoption of the BEEC for the state, in Ikeja.

He said, “The BEEC is the logical follow up to the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency that the Lagos State had subscribed to under the aegis of the International Finance Corporation to strengthen the resolve to ensure an organised, livable and sustainable physical environment as contained in the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.”

Salako urged the group to use its acquired knowledge to improve the physical environment of the state.

“I want to urge members of the TWG to take this assignment with all seriousness and adapt the knowledge gained from their practice for the advancement of the built environment of state and the wellbeing of the people,” he said.
