The Youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ismail Ahmed has expressed his disappointment about some defectors joining the party, saying he knew some are just part of them because it is the ruling party.
He stated this while featuring as a guest on Politics Today on Channels TV, monitored by Newsbreakers on Wednesday night.
Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari’s frontline critic, Femi Fani-Kayode defected to the ruling party; which surprised many.
Backing the Senate over the recent amendment of the electoral act that gives the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he said his personal issue with it was that it takes the decision away from the party.
This was the sentiment shared by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who described it as a retrogressive move.
He also hinted that once the State executives of the party are sworn in, the National Executive Committee (NEC) will meet to decide on the national convention that will be held later this year.
Speaking ahead of the permutation and political plan of the party in 202, Ismail Ahmed boasted that the ruling party will win again.
“I am not going to say PDP doesn’t mean anything to us. I am confident with what I am seeing. I don’t see PDP defeating us.”
Responding to questions if PDP field Atiku Abubakar or Aminu Tambuwal is their presidential candidate, he said he won’t underestimate the opposition but remain confident of an APC win.
Speaking on the likely presidential candidates that will emerge, he said the party boasts of many presidential candidates, adding that the party is going to consider zoning.
