President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Tanzania’s New President Samia Suluhu Hassan as she takes over the country’s presidential seat following the death of President John Magufuli.
The president’s congratulatory message, to the first ever female president of the country, was released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, on Friday.
Buhari urged President Samia Hassan to unite the nation and lead the country in a good direction.
The president also expressed his desire to work with the new Tanzanian president, to advance mutual issues that were of common African and global interest.
Tanzania’s new President Samia Suluhu Hassan who stated on Friday that the country should unite and avoid pointing fingers after the death of John Magufuli, her Covid-19 sceptic predecessor, urged the east African country to look forward with hope & confidence.
The new president announced a 21-day mourning for Magufuli, adding that all flags of Tanzania will fly at half-mast for the period. Magufuli passed away on Wednesday. due to a heart condition at the age of 61.
Samia Suluhu Hassan on Friday was sworn in as Tanzania’s president, making a great history and recording an indelible legacy by becoming the first female leader of the East African country.
