The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intervened in the ongoing rift between Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
The two PDP governors had attacked each other verbally due to the difference of opinions on the menace of criminal herdsmen in the country. Ortom, who is a public critic of the activities of herdsmen in Benue State, had accused Mohammed of joining forces with killer herdsmen to eliminate people living in his State and some other parts of the country.
This was in reaction to Governor Mohammed’s comment defending Fulani herdsmen who use AK-47. However, PDP has now called for calm between both parties as the reconciliation of both sides is now in effect.
PDP tweeted, ”PDP calls for calm as the internal reconciliation mechanism introduced by the hierarchy of the party between the two governors subsists. PDP urges the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the escalated security challenges in our country.”
