The Lagos State Task Force has warned dispatch riders and power bike riders against various traffic offences following the enforcement of the ban on the activities of commercial motorcycles across the state by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The agency’s chairman, Shola Jejeloye, disclosed this in a statement signed by the agency’s Director, Press and Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, on Tuesday.

Jejeloye noted that the agency had seized 250 bikes for violating traffic laws and they would be crushed during the weekend at the task force’s crushing site in Alausa.

He said, “Riding a power bike doesn’t make you immune to traffic laws of the state especially when it has to do with riding against traffic on one way which is highly dangerous to road users and even pedestrians.

“Any motorbike violating the state traffic laws will be met with the same level of punishment as the Okada of lower capacity.

“We have made a series of arrests of dispatch bikes whose riders either convey passengers even with the delivery box still mounted on the bike or sometimes disassemble the box and convey the passengers with the bikes.”

Jejeloye urged bike operators to obey traffic laws so as to avoid their bikes being confiscated.

“I urge all dispatch and delivery bike operators to warn their riders thoroughly to desist from carrying passengers with their bikes or risk forfeiting the bikes to the state

“I also appeal to power bike riders to obey traffic laws of the state highways as no bike will be spared once caught violating the law,” he said.
