The Governor of Zamfara State, Hon Bello Matawalle, has denied reports that he plans to dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Matawalle said this in a press statement signed and issued by the Director-General, media and public enlightenment Affairs, Government House, Hon. Yusuf Idris Gusau. According to the statement, the governor said that despite the rate of banditry in the state which it inherited from APC, no reasonable person can agree to defect to the party.
The Governor said, “The people disseminating the unfounded and baseless information as power-drunk politicians looking for cheap publicity,” saying that such rumors should be thrown into another waste paper basket as it could not hold any water. I have not in any way discussed the issue of defecting to APC with any politician either in the state or elsewhere.”
He added, “My main priority now is to restore peace in the state which disappeared during APC tenure. After all, the terror attacks and banditry came into existence in the State during the unfortunate tenure of APC. Even with the rate of banditry which my administration inherited from the APC, no reasonable person can agree to defect to the party.”
