Nigerian Senate Writes President Tinubu to sack Chairman of CAC Over Alleged Corruption

The Nigerian Senate has called on President Bola Tinubu to remove Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), from office.

This follows Magaji’s repeated failure to appear before the Senate Committee on Finance to explain the finances of the CAC.

The committee, led by Senator Sani Musa, expressed frustration over Magaji’s non-compliance with invitations, citing unresolved discrepancies in the CAC’s revenue figures. The Senate has issued a warrant of arrest against Magaji, directing security agencies to produce him before the committee.

Magaji’s troubles stem from allegations of altering corporate records and favoritism in a land ownership dispute involving Jonah Capital Nigeria Ltd and Houses for Africa Nigeria Ltd. The House of Representatives has also received a petition to investigate Magaji’s actions.

The CAC Registrar-General’s office has faced scrutiny over revenue reconciliation and alleged misconduct. Magaji’s removal would be a significant development, given his role in modernizing the CAC and implementing digital transformation initiatives.
