Nigerian Forward Set To Join Slovenian Club

Rivers United forward Ishaq Rafiu is set to join Slovenian giants Olimpija Ljubljana on a permanent deal, reports

Rafiu has caught eye following an impressive campaign for the newly crowned Nigeria Professional Football League champions.

The striker has netted 14 goals and recorded three assists in the NPFL this season.

Only the trio of Chijoke Akuneto (Rivers United), Victor Mbaoma (Enyimba) and Yusuf Abdulazeez (Gombe United) have scored more goals than him in the NPFL this season.

The 21-year-old is expected to sign his contract with the six-time Slovenian champions this week.

Rafiu was part of Nigeria’s squad for the recent international friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.

He featured as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat against Mexico, his debut appearance for the Super Eagles.
