The Apete area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was thrown into disarray yesterday when four unknown kidnappers stormed the Oke Odan community and abducted an undergraduate student of the University of Ibadan (UI).
The student, Ayodeji Emmanuel, is the son of Mr Odetunde; a farm poultry owner in the community. According to reports, Emmanuel was on the poultry farm when the gunmen invaded the community around 5pm on Monday, February 22.
Newsbreakers gathered that the gunmen shot sporadically into the air upon arrival spreading fear among the people in the area. After learning that the owner was absent, they abducted his son and left to an unknown destination.
However, around 10 pm on Monday, the kidnappers contacted the boy’s father demanding a ransom of #100 million to release him.
The Spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the command was working towards securing the boy’s release.
