rs Dorcas Vem, the wife of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government, Mr Silas Vem, has been released from the den of kidnappers.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ubah Ogaba, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, disclosed that a director in the Plateau State Ministry of Health, Dr Samuel Audu, who was also abducted by gunmen, had equally regained his freedom.
The two victims were abducted in separate operations by gunmen.
While the wife of the deputy chief of staff was kidnapped near their Little Rayfield residence in Jos on Sunday, the gunmen abducted the health director in front of his Barki Ladi residence on Monday.
A source from the state government house, while narrating how Dorcas was abducted, said, “Their house is at the Little Rayfield in Jos, close to the government house. The woman was just driving to their house when some gunmen accosted her in front of their gate. They forcefully dragged her out of her vehicle and took her to an unknown destination.”
A worker at the state Ministry of Health said the doctor was going home after closing from work when the hoodlums abducted him in Barkin Ladi community.
“He was still calling his wife to open the gate for him when the hoodlums ordered him into their waiting vehicle and drove away. They abandoned the vehicle driven by the director with the doors wide open,” the source added.
The police spokesman, who confirmed the release of the two victims, said their freedom was made possible by the combined efforts of security agents.
Ogaba said, “Yes, the wife of the deputy chief of staff and the medical doctor have been released and reunited with their families. They were rescued by the combined efforts of security operatives on Tuesday.”
