Governor Aminu Masari on Thursday performed the ground-breaking ceremony of a N5.8bn Interchange Road Project in the state capital, Katsina.
The project included construction of Kofar Kaura underpass which had been awarded at N2,906,277,281.25 and that of Kofar Kwaya awarded at N2,808,076,031.25 while the money for the project would sourced from the ‘Sukuk fund’.
The governor disclosed at the ceremony which took place at Kofa Kaura roundabout that 70 per cent of the contract sum had been paid to the contractor handling the project.
He warned the contractor that the state would not tolerate substandard work.
He said, “We have made adequate provision; if the contractor can perform magic and finish this in one day, he will have his remaining money.
“My appeal to the contractor and the consultant is about the quality of work, especially draining water from the roads, because it is very important for the roads to last longer and be beneficial to the people of Katsina State.”
