Security officers in the Imo State Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit, Michael Osundu within the state. According to the police, he is suspected to have played an active role in the attack on the Nigeria Correctional Services and Police HQ on the 5th of April, 2021.
According to Ikeokwu Orlando, the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, the arrest came after the directive of Alkali Usman, the IGP, to bring back peace to Imo State.
“He was arrested in connection with criminal activities in the state, and he is reasonably suspected to be part of the hoodlums that attacked the Nigeria Correctional Services and the Police headquarters on 5/04/21,” Ikeokwu Orlando said in a statement given on Monday.

A police uniform ranked at the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level and a pump action rifle with 26 cartridges were confiscated after being discovered in his Toyota Escalade.
According to the police operatives, the suspected said he was a spy who had received his training from the Ikeja-based Police Training School.
However, Abutu Yaro, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the issue with the aim of finding out the truth about the arrested suspect and the possibility of arresting others.
