“I Volunteered to Rescue Oyo Schoolchildren But Govt Said No” – Sunday Igboho Threatens to Name Alleged Political Sponsors of Kidnapping

Ibadan, Oyo State – Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has claimed he offered to lead an operation to rescue schoolchildren recently abducted in Oyo State, but said the state government rejected the offer.

In a recent video statement, Igboho alleged that kidnappers and their sponsors are not “supernatural beings” and could be flushed out if given clearance.

“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so they could be dislodged,” he said.

The activist went further to accuse unnamed politicians of bankrolling criminal gangs to destabilize the country. According to him, the same tactics used against former President Goodluck Jonathan are now being deployed against President Bola Tinubu.

“They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President,” Igboho alleged. He added that if the perpetrators of the recent abduction do not stop, he will publicly name the politicians he claims are behind them, accusing them of supplying “ammunition and money” to the gangs.

Igboho specifically referenced the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo, stating: “Suppose the recent abduction is not a game. In Oyo, they made away with children. I volunteered to go, but the state government said ‘No’.”

As at press time, the Oyo State Government had not issued an official response to Igboho’s claims. Security agencies in the state are yet to release a detailed update on the rescue efforts for the abducted pupils.

The development has sparked fresh debate online, with many Nigerians calling for swift action to secure the release of the children and for thorough investigations into allegations of political sponsorship of kidnapping.
