Getting a big, red pimple on the face happens to everyone. Acne is a skin condition common in adolescents and it is usually on the face as pimple. However, there are many ways to treat acne, but first, how and why do acne occur on the face?

Pimple shows up on the face when the pores on the skin become clogged with oil called sebum. Marina Peredo, a Dermatologist in New York says, “we have sebaceous glands in the skin that normally provide moisture and lubrication, but the combination of stress and hormones can form clogs. The bacteria cause inflammation in the skin, which is why blemishes and acne form.” With this, the skin flare up and causes pimple.

So, how do you get rid of pimples. Here are some tips to getting rid of pimples as well as how to prevent them from being worse.

You need to keep your hands off your face

This may be tempting to do, but always resist the urge to pick your pimple. Once you’ve picked at an acne lesion, it will take longer to heal which is more likely to cause a scar.

Try to apply warm compress

You can use a warm compress to bring it to the surface. This helps to soothe the skin if you feel a blemish coming on. Also, you can use a cold compress to bring down the swelling of a large painful blemish.

You should note that your glands are active all day. So, when the oil combines with make-up and dirt, it can be clogged with pores and blemishes. So, take a shower or use a cleansing towel to clean your face off.

Beauty products are one of the most common causes of adult acne, and unfortunately, using heavy dust make-up to hide your blemishes won’t make them disappear.  So, use mineral make-up on your skin rather than oil-based products that can contribute to breakouts.

It is advisable that you talk to a dermatologist. A dermatologist will find a treatment for the type of your skin to prevent acne and scars.

The face is the most visible part of your body. So, take the necessary precautions to keep your skin glowing.
