Gunmen Kill Ex-police Officer in Imo: Armed men have murdered an 82-year-old ex-policeman, Francis Onuchukwu, in Imo state.

The deceased’s son, Hamilton Onuchukwu, while speaking to correspondents on Tuesday, revealed that his father was killed by a two-member gang riding on a motorcycle on Friday at Ubaha Okporo Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.

He said that his father was shot at close range in the chest and in two other areas in his body.

Onuchukwu, a journalist, told our correspondent that the incident had thrown his family into deep grief and mourning.

According to him, he was too close to his father and felt like taking his own life now that he was gone.

He equally said he has suddenly developed cardiac challenges since after the demise of his father.

He said, “I love my father so much. I was too close to him. My father was in our compound at Ubaha Okporo Community on the fateful day when two boys riding on motorcycle arrived and shot him at point-blank range. It happened at about 8:00pm.
“I’m suspecting some persons. He was an ex-policeman. The hoodlums shot him in three places. I feel like taking my life. Do you know that I developed cardiac problems since after his demise?”

He said that he had reported the murder of his father at the anti-kidnapping unit of the state police command and the Public Relations Unit of the command.

The police spokesperson, Micheal Abattam, had yet to respond to the murder incident as he didn’t take calls put across to him by our correspondent.
