Gombe NYSC vaccinates 252 corps members against yellow fever, COVID-19

No fewer than 252 batch B stream I corps members have been vaccinated against yellow fever and COVID-19 by the personnel of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency at the Amada temporary orientation camp, Akko Local Government of Gombe State.

PUNCH Healthwise reports that 156 corps members were vaccinated against yellow fever and 96 others undertook the COVID-19 vaccination.

Speaking shortly before the commencement of the exercise on Wednesday, The State Coordinator of NYSC Gombe, Ada Imoni, called on camp participants to avail themselves of the opportunity, adding that it was necessary to avert the spread of the virus 

According to Imoni, the vaccination is a week-long exercise expected to take care of Camp officials and Corps members interested in taking the vaccine.

She said, “Health is wealth. You must take issues of vaccination seriously. NYSC Management is concerned about the welfare of Corps members and staff.”

Imoni added that Yellow fever is a serious disease caused by the yellow fever virus, adding that there is no available medicine to treat or cure it.

Our correspondent reports that the vaccination is part of an effort to avert the outbreak of yellow fever.
