One hot night after service, a woman knelt down shaking with anger. “Father, disgrace her. Let her not see tomorrow,” she prayed about someone who had insulted her. A few feet away, that same “offender” knelt too, crying, “God, I’m not perfect… please don’t give up on me.” Morning came. Roosters crowed.
The sun rose gently over both their roofs. Neither funeral posters were printed. Heaven had listened but mercy spoke louder than revenge.
That’s when I understood something: God is not our weapon. He is our Father. He loves the offended and the offender. He corrects, He teaches, He forgives and He still uses imperfect people every day. If God answered every prayer we prayed in anger, this world would be half empty by now… and many of us wouldn’t survive our own words.
understands grace and let this be as a reminder that mercy is the only reason we’re all still breathing. Those of you that love cursing, God is not from your village and I can assure you that he has not been answering the prayers you make in anger against another of God’s beloved creation.
Let love lead, be quick to bless, be slow to anger and curses, God is not an errand boy he does only what he pleases to do.
