The Chairman, Oye Local Government Area, Ekiti, Mr. Sunday Ajimoko, has appealed to the residents to take COVID-19 vaccines to stay healthy.
Ajimoko made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Oye-Ekiti.
He said that despite the reduction in the spread of the virus in the state, residents who were yet to get vaccinated should do so.
“I want to urge residents who are yet to take the COVID-19 vaccines to do so.
“The vaccines are available in all our community health centres and we have competent health care workers who will administer them.
“The rate of the spread of the virus has indeed reduced to the minimal level but we still need to be proactive and stay safe,” he said.
Ajimoko said “no Nigerian could travel outside the country without being certified to have taken the complete dosage of the vaccines.
“Currently, without being certified, some airlines will not allow any Nigerians to board their planes.
“I want to advise Nigerians to get vaccinated to avoid being infected outside the country.”
The chairman also urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, and parents to encourage their followers, children, and relatives to get vaccinated in their own interest to keep safe.
