Firm unveils app to detect fake products

The  maker of X-Pression hair extension, Solpia Nigeria Limited, has announced the unveiling of an application to help users identify genuine brands of its products.

The Marketing Manager, SNL, Mrs Grace Ejikeme, said this on Thursday at a briefing held in Lagos.

She said, “It has recently come to the notice of the management of Solpia Nigeria Limited that some greedy businessmen have started importing fake and substandard X-Pression braids into the country and distributing them in markets across the globe.

“To curb this, we have developed the ‘Hidden Tag application,’ a new innovation that is a sure way of identifying X-Pression product and help the company ensure a total elimination of fake braids in the market.”

The Sales Manager of the company, Mr Murphy Alaka, said the firm had earlier used a hologram sticker to detect fake braids, but this failed.

“Initially, we developed hologram sticker to help buyers distinguish between the original and fake X-Pression braids, but these did not bring a permanent solution, we, therefore, advise all users of our braids to download the Hidden Tag app which can easily be used to authenticate the braids before buying them,” he said.
