Veteran Nollywood comic actor, Babatunde Nirudeen Omidina aka Baba Suwe, was on Thursday laid to rest at his Ikorodu residence.

The movie icon died on Monday, November 22, 2021, after battling an undisclosed ailment for over five years.

The event which happened at his home in Ewu Elepe witnessed the presence of notable actors from the Yoruba sector of Nollywood who came to pay their last respect.

Although a Muslim, Omidina was buried three days after his death, a move against his Islamic tenets. This led to a delay in the internment of the late actor as the presiding cleric frowned at some non-Islamic practices exhibited by the family of the deceased.

The late actor’s family had insisted on a brief lying-in-state for fans and well-wishers to see before he was finally laid to rest – a practice which the presiding cleric, Sheikh Ahamad Olanrewaju Alfulanny said was not accepted in Islam.
