Atiku’s Presidential Ambition crashes at the Supreme Court

The 7 man panel of the Supreme Court yesterday dismissed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s appeal against President Muhammadu Buhari for lacking merit.

The court heard and dismissed the appeal filed by the presidential aspirant and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), against the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

Justice Tanko Muhammed, the Chief Justice of Nigeria while Speaking on behalf of the panel, said that members of the panel had studied all the documents and exhibits filed in the case for about two weeks, and have discovered that the appeal was lacking in merit.

Justice Muhammed noted that the details of the judgement would be made available on a later date.

The ruling of the apex court puts to an end the presidential ambition of PDP’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the legal tussle that had ensued since the General Elections earlier in the year.
