Arewa Youths Trust Foundation (AYTF) has urged the committee disbursing the N250 million donated by music star, David Adeleke AKA Davido to orphanage homes to show integrity and be fair in the distribution.
Newsbreakers reports that Davido in a rare humanitarian gesture to mark his 29th birthday decided to give the N201 million donated to him by his fans and fellow musicians to charity.
Davido realised the said sum in three days and later added N50 million of his own with the intention of giving the money to less privileged.
AYTF urged the singer to keep the committee in check and ensure effective distribution, especially in the northern parts of the country where there were large numbers of orphans and vulnerable households.
The group noted that if the N251 million is shared judiciously, it would ameliorate and suppress the plight and suffering of selected orphans across the country.
In a statement, the foundation’s team leader, Dr Fahad Ahmed Chikaji, hailed the singer for considering the North, adding that the distance between the region and where he comes from has a cordial and mutual relationship with the North in trade, marriage and others.
“We can’t thank him better, considering the orphans in the northern parts of the country and not allowing distance to remain a barrier to the humanitarian gesture…
“We have numerous orphans in this part of the country that cannot raise their voices unless for some of us the NGOs that have been speaking for them.
“We pray for him and are ready to assist in providing details and locations of the most vulnerable even among the orphanages to the person in charge of the distribution in the North.
“We call on Prof. Yahana Joel Asabe of the Northern Nigerian Seventh Day Adventist Union Conference, who is a member of the committee set up to oversee the North, to project the integrity of northerners by doing the job diligently…”
