A former legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muiz Banire has lambasted the party leadership for going on with a plan to holding ward congress.
The Supreme Court judgment concerning the election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has brought the attention of many party members to the problems the party might have in future elections.
Yobe Governor, Malai Buni occupying the seat of the acting Chairman of the party is illegal, according to section 182 of the Nigerian constitution. This has made some big wigs in the party called for the resignation of Buni from the seat in order to avoid future legal problems.
Speaking as a guest on Politics Sunday on Channels TV, monitored by Newsbreakersonline, he said it could lead to a catastrophe for the party since the notice of congress forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is signed by Buni.
He further said every decision taken by Buni would lead to a nullity as it is also against the party constitution.
Meanwhile, there have been internal issues in some states like Lagos and Osun state as there are grievances from some members of the party over the ward congresses conducted over the weekend.
However, the Zamfara chapter of the party that had obviousely learnt from its mistake decided to suspend the process.
