APC National Convention 2026: Defence Minister Vows Tight Security as Party Prepares for March Event

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gearing up for its national convention, scheduled to take place from March 27-28, 2026, and security is top priority. Christopher Musa, the Minister of Defence, has been appointed to chair the 2026 APC National Convention Security Sub-Committee, and he’s vowing to deliver maximum security for party members and delegates.

At the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja, Musa emphasized the importance of a proactive approach to security, saying, “Our approach must be preventive rather than reactive. Potential threats must be identified early and mitigated well ahead of the event”.

With thousands of delegates, party leaders, government officials, and observers expected to attend, Musa acknowledged that the convention’s security requirements are significant. “The Convention must reflect the highest standards of organisation and security befitting a ruling party and a responsible national political institution,” he said.

To achieve this, Musa has tasked the committee with conducting a thorough assessment of vulnerabilities and designing a comprehensive security plan. The committee will work closely with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to ensure a unified and effective response to any security challenges.

Musa expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver a secure and successful convention, citing the wealth of experience represented among its members. “With the wealth of experience represented in this committee, I am confident we will deliver a security framework that ensures a smooth and successful convention,” he said.

The APC national convention is a critical event for the party, providing an opportunity to renew leadership structures and reinforce its vision for national development. With security arrangements underway, party members and delegates can look forward to a productive and peaceful convention.
