Akwa Ibom poly suspends registrar for alleged gross misconduct, appoints replacement

The Governing Council of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, on Tuesday suspended the institution’s Registrar, Dr. Mary Ndah, over alleged gross misconduct.

This was contained in a statement by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Public Relations, Gloria Udoudum, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Uyo.

The statement said the registrar’s suspension followed the report of the Committee on the Review of the Issuance of Statement of Results/Certificates for supposed graduands of the Defunct Distance Learning Centres of the institution from 2009-2013, where a prima facie case of serious misconduct was established against her.

The statement read in part, “It is considered necessary in the public interest that she be prohibited from carrying on her duties and enjoying the salaries thereof forthwith, pending the outcome of the Investigation Committee that has been set up by the Governing Council.”

Similarly, the council has approved Mr Ini Ebong, who is the next most senior Deputy Registrar of the polytechnic to oversee the duties of the Registrar/Secretary to Council till further notice.
