Abducted Kano lawmaker’s mother released, N40m paid

After 13 days in captivity, Hajiya Zainab, the abducted mother of a Kano State lawmaker, Isiyaku Danja, on Tuesday, regained her freedom after the payment of N40m ransom.

Danga is the minority leader of the Kano State House of Assembly.

His mother was abducted from her bedroom in the Gezawa Local Government Area of the state on January 12, 2021.

The lawmaker, who confirmed her release on Tuesday, disclosed that she regained freedom after the payment of N40m.

Danja said he was on his way to pick his mother from a local in Jigawa State, where the abductors dropped her.
